Course offers "Food Chemistry", "Chemistry" and "Brewery Technology"

The Chair Environmental Microbiology (Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Szewzyk) offers the following service courses for the degree course "Food Chemistry", "Chemistry" and "Brewery Technology" (teaching language: German):

Biology
L700	Principles of Biology for Food Chemistry, Chemistry and Brewery Technology
	VL	2 SWS	WS
	Overview of structure and function of important plant and animal groups, principles of genetics, physiology, introduction in ecology. Review of important farm animals and plants, vermin and their combatting (parasites, vermins in foodstuff, weeds) Performance evaluation: oral examination Required subject for degree course "Food Chemistry" (2nd semester). Literature: Campbell: Biologie. Spektrum Verlag
L701	Biological Practice Course for Food Chemistry, Chemistry and Brewery Technology
	PR	4 SWS	each semester
	Principles of microbiology, botany and zoology using selected examples considering food sepcific aspects. 2 week block course during semester break; preliminary talk at the beginning of the semester. Required subject for degree course "Food Chemistry" (3rd semester).
L703	Biological Seminar
	SE	1 SWS	each semester
	Presentations by the students. Discussion to improve and expand the knowledge gained in the lecture course (VL L 700) and practice course (PR L 701). 2 week block course during semester break; preliminary talk at the beginning of the semester. Required subject for degree course "Food Chemistry" (3rd semester).
Note: The "Biological Practice Course" and the "Biological Seminar" form an integrated course. Therefore they can't be attended separately.

Microscopy of food
L714	Microscopy of food
	VL	3 SWS	each semester
	Part 1: Theoretical principles of microscopic analysis of plant food. Part 2: Selected examples for microscopic examination of plant food. 2 week block course during semester break; preliminary talk at the beginning of the semester.
L715	Practice Course Microscopy of food
	PR	1 SWS	each semester
	Flours and its products, coffee, tea, cacao, oilseed, spicery and stimultants. 2 week block course during semester break; preliminary talk at the beginning of the semester.
Note: The lecture course (VL) and the practice course (PR) form an integrated course. Therefore they can't be attended separately.
